Biography about Guest Speaker Scott Denton

Scott grew up in Pasadena, TX before heading off to college. He accepted Jesus as his personal Savior and Lord at the age of 8 and was called to ministry at the age of 14. He fully surrendered to this calling at age 18 and pursued his education to help along that journey. Scott graduated from Houston Baptist University with a double major in Christianity and Recreation and has a Master's degree from Southwestern Theological Seminary.

Scott met and married Becky 29 years ago in Houston and they have had the privilege of raising two beautiful children whom they are very proud to call their own. Their daughter, Kali, and her husband, Austin, have two children: Kendrick(5), Rory (2), and one on the way. Their son, Tyler, serves on staff with Bill Wise at Central and is pursuing a Biblical Counseling Master's degree from seminary.

Scott served as a student pastor for 13 years before he began serving as a Sports/Recreation Pastor at Bear Creek Baptist Church in Houston, where he has been serving the past 23 years.

Scott and Becky also began 1 More Day Ministries, a speaking ministry that focuses on helping people to realize that each day is a gift from God and to use EACH day for that which it was given. Scott and Becky have a passion for marriage believing that marriages are worth fighting for and to enjoy spending time together working to make it the best marriage it can be.

In Scott’s free time you will find him on a golf course, a lake, or probably playing some kind of sport. He recently began a new ministry, called Balance Sports, that has a major focus on families and creating a balance in homes to hopefully build stronger units and purposeful, quality time together.
