Our mission in the Central Special Needs Ministry is to help each participant experience the gospel and grow as a disciple in a setting that is safe, inclusive, and respectful of their unique abilities and needs. Through intentional care environments, personalized support, and Christ-centered teaching, we seek to collaborate with families on their journey with disability.

- Before Your First Visit

Participation in our Sunday morning Special Needs program requires advance placement. We are unable to accommodate walk-up participants.
Please contact our Special Needs Ministry team before your first visit to begin the intake process. We will ask you to complete a participant form and then connect with you to learn more about your participant—their strengths, communication, support needs, and what helps them participate successfully.
Once we have had the opportunity to get to know your participant and understand their support needs, our team will communicate with you about placement and next steps.
- What Sunday Morning Looks Like

Our Sunday morning program provides individualized ministry support to help participants engage in the life of the church, build relationships, encounter the Gospel, and grow in their understanding of Jesus. Our participants receive individualized 1:1 volunteer support, depending on their needs and the ministry environment.
- How Placement Works

Every individual with special needs is different, so we take time to get to know each participant and their family as we consider placement and next steps.
Our team considers each participant’s individual needs and whether our current programs, spaces, volunteer support, resources, and level of expertise allow us to provide the support they need.
Because our Sunday morning program relies heavily on individualized volunteer support, space may be limited and a waitlist may be necessary. When capacity is limited, placement priority is given to Central members.
Our goal is to thoughtfully match each participant with an environment in which they can be supported well and participate meaningfully.
We recognize that our current ministry environment may not be the right fit for every individual. We want to be honest about what we are equipped to provide rather than promise a level of support we cannot consistently or safely provide.
- Partnering with Families

We view special needs ministry as a partnership with families. You know your family member in ways we do not, and we want to listen and learn from you. At the same time, our team will be transparent about our ministry’s capabilities and limitations so that together we can establish clear expectations and determine how we can best support your family.
Our desire is for individuals with special needs and their families to know they are valued at Central while also ensuring that the ministry support we offer is thoughtful, safe, and appropriate for each person.

Leaders
Charity Corbitt
Charity has over 20 years of experience in ministry and education, having worked in three different school districts and two churches, as well as being a stay-at-home mom. During that time, she has led preschool programs, taught in the classroom, and developed inclusive environments for individuals with special needs.
Charity graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Science, with a focus on education. She has been married to her husband, Chris, for 27 years, and they have three children together. In her free time, Charity enjoys watching Aggie sports and spending time with her family.
